This oil landscape, painted with brush and palette knife, is a dynamic, expressive work that captures the rugged nature of the Welsh mountains which surround the artist’s home at the foothills of the Brecon Beacons. Of landscape painting, the artist has said:
‘I’ve come to recognise that I have painted landscapes during very chaotic times of my life - often when I have been temporarily homeless, or going through traumatic endings of relationships and situations - I am creating an alternative place to wander and rest - to find a sense of peace, I suppost. These spaces are ioften magined places but are also influenced by the landscape that surrounds me - the rolling hills and flowing rivers, mountain paths and vales that run through the valleys of Wales, my home.’ Joanne Headington
