This small oil painting of tulips on paper from the series ‘A Family of Flowers’ is an expression of familial dynamics through the metaphorical subect of flowers. The painting is heavily cropped, with the flower heads almost escaping the confines of the page, but not quite.
‘ I have used the subject of flowers to explore the close relationships that exist within immediate and extended families especially mother/daughter dynamics. Flowers presented themselves as the perfect metaphor to describe familial relationships in a beautiful and gentle way.’ (Joanne Headington)
